The beautiful architect represents countless huge churches across Pakistan. The second oldest church of Lahore, after St. Joseph Church (built in 1853), it was founded in 1880 as Apostolic Vicariate of Punjab and was promoted as Diocese of Lahore on 1 September, 1886. According to Vatican Year book 2001, the largest catholic archdioceses of Pakistan, divided into 26 parishes, runs a number of schools, seminaries and hospitals while undertaking numerous philanthropic projects. The archdioceses publishes a monthly magazine, Catholic Naqeeb that was founded in 1929. In 2009, the Archdioceses launched its own Catholic TV, which is Pakistan’s first catholic television channel. The Sacred Heart Cathedral is integral part of cultural landscape of Lahore.
